What is pad printing ink cup and type

A pad printing ink cup, also known as an ink cup is a essential component of a pad printing machine, equipped with a sharp ceramic or tungsten ring that scrapes ink from printing plates. It acts as an ink reservoir, holding and depositing the correct amount of ink onto the etched image.

The ink cup system helps maintain ink viscosity and reduces solvent evaporation, limiting the release of VOCs into the workshop.

There are two types of ink cup systems: magnetic and non-magnetic. Both deliver excellent doctoring results.

Magnetic ink cups use magnets to create a seal between the cup and the plate, preventing leaks as the cup moves. They are easier to use, especially in multi-color printing systems, and help keep machine costs down.

Non-magnetic ink cups rely on mechanical pressure applied to either an outer flange or center hole. They are ideal for high-speed applications where the cup remains stationary while the plate moves.
